Bethleem Evangelical School & Feeding Program

Nurturing Minds, Healing Hearts, and Restoring Hope in Haiti

Founded in 2021 by Olnick and Rose-Mada Duverne, the Bethleem Evangelical School in Cabaret, Haiti, is far more than an educational institution. It is a sanctuary, a healing center, and a loving family for children living through one of the most challenging times in Haiti's history. Today, our school provides fully comprehensive tuition, educational materials, and daily nutritional support to 108 vulnerable children. In a region heavily impacted by instability and economic crisis, we stand as a fortress of safety and hope for the next generation

A Holistic Approach: Education, Nutrition, and Dignity

We believe that effective learning cannot happen in isolation. To break the cycle of poverty, we address the physical, academic, and personal dignity of every single student. Through our structured program, we provide:

 - Complete Academic Supplies: Every child receives essential textbooks, notebooks, school bags, and learning materials to ensure they have the tools to succeed.

- School Uniforms: Providing uniforms restores a sense of equality, pride, and belonging among our students, regardless of their financial backgrounds.

- The Bethleem Daily Feeding Program: As Jesus taught us to feed the hungry, we provide hot, nutritious meals every school day. For many of our 108 students, this is the only reliable meal they receive. Proper nutrition fights malnutrition, boosts immune systems, and gives children the energy to focus and learn.

- Personal Care and Hygiene: For our most destitute children, the school environment functions as a true home. Our dedicated staff steps in to bathe, groom, and care for children who lack basic family support, teaching them self-worth and showing them they deserve to live with dignity and respect.

Healing the Trauma: Spiritual Guidance and Psychological Support

"And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children." Isaiah 54:13

The children of Cabaret are surviving an unprecedented wave of gang violence. Many of our students have suffered unimaginable trauma

—some have lost their mothers, fathers, or both parents to brutal violence. Others have been victims of abuse, or targeted by gangs trying to recruit young children into criminal networks. To combat this darkness, the Bethleem Evangelical School focuses deeply on:

Spiritual Fortification

We place a heavy emphasis on Christian education and spiritual foundation. By teaching the word of God, we instill core values of peace, love, integrity, and forgiveness, shielding our children from the negative influences of criminal networks.

Trauma-Informed Emotional Support

While we currently lack the financial resources to employ full-time, licensed mental health professionals, our ministry does not leave these children alone in their grief. Every teacher at Bethleem Evangelical School receives specialized training to provide basic psychological first aid and emotional support. We operate as a tightly-knit family, offering a safe space where children can weep, heal, and rebuild their shattered lives through love and communal care.
